Environment Furniture is taking recycling to a sexy new level. Among the company's 2009 offerings is their latest sustainable chair—the Tripolina with sling seats made of truck top canvases reclaimed from Brazilian truck drivers and vintage Levi brand jeans.

According to Wikipedia, the orignal Tripolina chair was introduced to the public at the International Fair of Saint Louis in the 1904 by Joseph Fendy, who had patented the design in 1877. English troops during their wandering warring campaigns of the 19th century were among the first to use the Tripolina chair, which is easy to assemble and disassemble—perfect for the man on the run!

Environment's retail showrooms are located in New York, Atlanta, Orange County's South Coast Plaza and a new flagship location in Los Angeles in the heart of the design district on Beverly Boulevard. The company’s mission statement includes environmental stewardship with a focus on creating unique furniture collections from reclaimed, recycled and sustainably harvested wood, and other raw materials.
